Privacy policy
ZakatBook (“we,” “us”) is currently operated as an independent project by its founder, not yet a registered company. This policy explains what we collect and why.
Last updated 18 September 2026
What we collect
- Email address (for sign-in)
- First name (optional)
- The financial figures you enter to calculate Zakat — asset values, liabilities, gold/silver weights and purity
- Your saved asset ledger and calculation history
- Preferences: currency, madhab, Nisab method, Hawl date
- Basic usage analytics (see below)
Why we collect it
Solely to calculate your Zakat, save your record so you don’t re-enter it each year, and remind you of your Hawl date. We do not use your financial data for any purpose beyond providing the service to you.
Third parties
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Resend — sends sign-in emails. Only your email address passes through them.
- gold-api.com and ExchangeRate-API — provide live prices. We do not send them any of your personal or financial data; we only read public rates from them.
- Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Microsoft Clarity — help us understand site usage. These may use cookies and collect anonymized/pseudonymized behavioral data (pages visited, general location, device type). They do not receive your Zakat figures or account details.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with any other party.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing support@zakatbook.com. Self-service account deletion is coming soon; until then we will process deletion requests manually within a reasonable time.
Where your data is stored
Our infrastructure providers may store data outside the UAE. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is protected wherever it is processed.
Governing law
This policy is written with regard to the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). If you are located in the EU/UK, you may have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and to object to processing — contact us to exercise these.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
